Have an app idea or need an app built for your business?

Mobile App Hackathon is an event produced by the AT&T Developer Program and Apigee that is designed for attendees (technical & non-technical) to build apps/mobile apps, get fed, compete for prizes across different categories and most importantly: meet new people and scout for teammates to work on new or current projects. Our hackathon will introduce you to the latest cutting edge tools to help deploy your own app with a website backend, fully hosted in the cloud.

Objective C, Android, Java, ASM, Javascript, HTML, C #, Dot Net, XNA and all other languages are welcome. Your only objective is to get a mobile app running regardless of an HTML5, Mobile Web or native implementation. Even if you are rusty with your programming, we will have live developer support from local senior developers as well as from AT&T, Sencha, and Apigee to help you code that much faster.

Event Schedule.  The following is a list of the weekends agenda:

• 6PM - Friday Evening - Kickoff event with drinks, networking, and developer dating which leads into idea pitches and team formation.

• 10AM - Saturday Morning - The fun continues with an all day hackathon. Work with the teams that you formed on Friday night to produce the app spec’d out the night before. Senseis will be available throughout the entire event to help you code up your solution. App submissions will be accepted throughout the day with a deadline of 7PM.

• 7PM - Saturday Evening - Promptly at 7PM, teams will begin pitching their ventures. Pitches are limited to three (3) minutes per team.

Prizes. The following prizes are experiential and geared towards accelerating you towards a successful business as well as expanding your network and industry knowledge:

• Best Hackathon Overall App 
• 1st Place - $500 in Gift Cards for the team and one (1) year of the "Small" service from Github for each team member
• 2nd Place - $300 in Gift Cards for the team and one (1) year of the "Micro" service from Github for each team member
• 3rd Place - $200 in Gift Cards for the team and six (6) months of "Micro" service from Github for each team member
• Best App using mHealth APIs
• 1st Place - $250 VISA Gift Card for each team member (Max 5)
• Best App using AT&T APIs
• 1st Place -Sierra Wireless 4G Elevate Devices for each team member (Max 3) with 1 month free service (1GB max)
• Best AT&T API integration into an existing App
• 1st place - $1,000 VISA Gift Card
• Best New App or Current App implementing Telenav APIs
• 1st place - $200 VISA Gift Card for each team member (Max 5)
• Best App using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
• 1st Place - $1,500 total in AWS credit

Judging Criteria. Apps will be judged based on the the criteria below and weighted accordingly.  

• 33% Weight - Ability to clearly articulate what your app does

• 33% Weight - Originality of idea

• 33% Weight -  Technically challenging implementation

Alex Donn, Senior Marketing Manager at AT&T, is based out of sunny Seattle! His passion is educating developers young and old about mobile application development best practices through events like hackathons that fuse the collective interests of multiple technology and business leaders.	Max Katz, Head of Community and Developer Relations for Tiggzi (http://tiggzi.com), has been helping customers jump start their RIA development as well as providing mentoring, consulting and training. Tiggzi.com is a cloud-based HTML5, jQuery Mobile and PhoneGap mobile app builder.
Kyle Drake is a many-hats web developer and entrepreneur that speaks multiple languages, and has worked with numerous startups to build their infrastructure. As a software engineer for Geoloqi, he is helping to build their geolocation platform and real-time location-streaming API.	Bryce Kerley, a Developer Advocate at Basho, is a highly skilled Rails developer.  Prior to joining Basho he worked as an independent Rails developer, consulting  on everything from AJAX to ZFS.  He will be attending this event on behalf of AT&T and speaking about their mHealth APIs.
Laura Della Torre, an Associate Director of Partner Marketing at Telenav, is leading mobile developer and publisher channel efforts. She drove the recent launch of Scout for Apps, the world’s first HTML5, browser-based, voice guided, turn-by-turn GPS navigation service.	Lou Gazzola, a Marketing Manager in Developer Relations at RIM, has helped create marketing programs to build and excite the BlackBerry Developer community to create applications for the over 75 million BlackBerry Smartphone users.
Kumiko Yamazaki, a Technical Writer and developer at Map Quest, first joined the company as a cartographer in 2004 and currently helps with the development and design of mqVibe, a geolocation app used to aid in discovering new places. Prior to mqVibe, she maintained the documentation for the various MapQuest APIs (including the Open Data APIs).	Ben Wen, VP of Sales and Marketing at Object Labs (www.mongolabs.com), was most recently Product Manager for IBM WebSphere, focused on DataPower SOA Appliances and Messaging Security. Ben was co-founder of ThinkFish Productions, who developed and sold a non-photorealistic 3D rendering engine.

Senseis

Larry Zhou, a Lead Engineer for Telenav, works on the Scout for Apps HTML5 navigation service team. He has over 10 years of experience in a wide array of platforms including Java, J2EE, AJAX, and XML, he has driven innovative mobile web technology and iOS design and development.	Andrej Kostresevic, founder of New Frontier Nomads, has more than a decade of development experience. Andrej was the lead mobile developer at Myxer.com, where he was in charge of all of Myxer's mobile apps - including an iPhone app and its Android counterpart, which currently have over 10 million downloads.
Jorge Ramon, President at QBN Software, is the founder of a software development and developer education shop focused on mobile, web and desktop technologies. He runs the popular MiamiCoder.com blog, and is the author of Building a Sencha Touch Application and the Ext JS 3.0 Cookbook.	Erik Oros, a Development Consultant with RIM, is primarily focused on the Java and HTML5 space. He graduated from the Business and Computing program at Wilfrid Laurier University, and strives to help developers in all aspects of their application development.
